Old-rent areas in the district classified as distinguished, average or economic

The official gazette published Alexandria governor’s decree 312 of 2025, which sets out East District’s areas in each class by their bounding streets.

On 10 December 2025 the official gazette, El Waqae El Masreya, published Alexandria governor’s decree 312 of 2025, which classifies the areas with homes let under the old rent law as distinguished, average or economic, after survey committees finished their work in 9 districts and Borg El Arab city.

The decree lists East District’s areas in each class by number and by their bounding streets. For example, several areas between Tariq El Geish to the north and El Horreya Road to the south are in the distinguished class; areas around Mahattet El Souq and El Fath streets are among the average ones; and areas of Abis along the El Mahmoudiya axis are economic. Any part of the district not listed in the first two classes is classified as economic.

Residents can check the decree’s text to see which class their street falls in.
